I have long been focusing on blockchain infrastructure investment, especially in scalability, privacy and underlying technology breakthroughs. I am very optimistic about Optimum’s innovations in the network layer and memory layer.

Kent (Optimum co-founder):

I have entered the crypto field as an investor in the past few years. Now I am working with Muriel and Kishori to promote the implementation of Optimum, aiming to reshape Web3 performance from the most basic layer.

Muriel Medard (Optimum co-founder, MIT professor):

In the past two decades, she has been committed to the research of reliable communication and network coding technology. Now she leads the team to bring these achievements to Web3 and promote the development of decentralized systems.

🚀 What is Optimum?

Kent:

Optimum is a decentralized high-performance “memory layer” built for Web3. We recognize that the on-chain execution layer is relatively mature, but there are still performance bottlenecks in network transmission and data access, so we launched two core products:

Optimum P2P: High-speed data transmission network to solve the communication efficiency problem between blockchain nodes;

Optimum DRAM: Decentralized memory component to achieve real-time access and update of blockchain status.

⚙️ Core technology interpretation: RLNC (Random Linear Network Coding)

Muriel:

RLNC is a data processing method for random linear coding in the network, with the following features:

Each node uses random coefficients to generate linear combinations (equations);

These combined data are transmitted between nodes, no longer redundant copies;

Original data can be reconstructed by receiving a sufficient number of combined equations;

It has high elasticity and real-time performance, and supports any topology, node online and offline changes.

🛣️ Product impact and on-chain scalability

Way & Muriel:

The current blockchain cannot be dynamically expanded on demand because there is a bottleneck in the communication layer;

Optimum can provide “super highways” for mainstream public chains such as Ethereum and Solana to solve block propagation and mempool synchronization efficiency;

It does not change the protocol of the original chain, but only replaces its network layer module, which has strong compatibility;

Reduce latency and on-chain congestion through more efficient propagation methods, thereby reducing Gas costs.

🧠 Flex Nodes: A node role that everyone can participate in

Muriel:

Flex Nodes is a lightweight node form that allows ordinary users (such as laptop users) to participate in data dissemination or memory storage;

No need to be online for a long time or have high-configuration hardware, rewards are obtained based on “how much work is done and how much computing power is contributed”;

This will greatly enhance the decentralization and community participation of Web3.

🔄 Community building and future roadmap

Kent:

Currently, Optimum is launching private testing on the Ethereum network and will be open to some node operators;

The scope of Flex Node testing and verification will be expanded soon, and the community is welcome to pay attention and participate;

The future goal is “Scale Any Chain” - allowing any public chain to gain stronger scalability by integrating Optimum.
